Parliamentary Insight publishes independent, impartial analysis of the British Parliament. With a deep understanding of how Parliament works, Parliamentary Insight puts debates, committee hearings and other fora in the context of relevant institutions, journalism and global politics.
Political journalism has long been reduced to lobby gossip and Whitehall leaks, leaving individuals and organisations scrambling to put together the political jigsaw from thousands of online sources, only to find all the pieces look the same.
Parliamentary Insight cuts through the political noise by putting a modern twist on the lost tradition of parliamentary reporting, bringing the debates that matter and overlooked issues straight to you.
The proceedings of Parliament provide a cross-section of all the concerns of society, from major diplomatic incidents to obscure foreign conflicts, from fiscal policy to the stories of small businesses.
However, no one is curating and digesting the huge amount of information — be it Hansard, Select Committee reports, submissions to legislative consultations or APPG events — for the concerned citizen and organisational stakeholders.
Parliamentary Insight is here to keep an eye on Parliament’s proceedings, and then digest and curate that information for you.
Every week you will receive a round-up of the weekly schedule in Parliament plus focused analysis of debates concerning two key areas that shape the rest of politics:
Economics & Finance
Foreign Affairs & Defence
That way, you can track the long-term trends in politics — and ignore the short-term drama.
You won’t have to worry about missing anything. Every new edition of the newsletter goes directly to your inbox. All you need to do is subscribe.
Parliamentary Insight is produced by me, Efraim Carlebach, a former Hansard parliamentary reporter with experience in risk consultancy and strategic communications.
Working in the House of Commons, I experienced the huge gap between what was reported in the media and what was actually being debated in Parliament. Working with companies in risk and PR, I saw how valuable that missing knowledge could be to all kinds of stakeholders.
Real insight into political issues requires an understanding of how, across parties, parliamentarians' decisions are shaped by common sources and common premises. The divisions then start to appear in less obvious places.
That’s where the advantage lies for anyone who wants to understand politics, prepare for changes ahead and influence outcomes. Parliamentary Insight offers you that advantage.
